Voice teacher Brian Sussman

Tenor, Brian Sussman, holds a Master of Music in Voice from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Wyoming. He is a passionate music educator and performer. He has taught singers of all ages and abilities as a private instructor and a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas. During his two and a half year tenure as the Tenor Principal Vocal Artist at Heartland Sings (Fort Wayne, IN), Brian served as a teaching artist for the Arts Integrated Residency program where he taught ELA skills through opera to first grade students in the Fort Wayne and Allen County public school system.

Brian’s extensive performance experience encompasses a wide variety of genres. While at Heartland Sings, he performed in well over 100 shows ranging in genre from classical and musical theater to jazz, pop, and country. An avid operatic performer, Brian’s credits include Francis Flute (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Leo Hubbard (Regina), the Spanish Governor (Candide), Ralph Rackstraw (H.M.S. Pinafore), and Donald Hopewell (Gallantry). On the concert stage he’s sung as the tenor soloist in Requiem/Coronation Mass (Mozart), Messiah (Handel), and Misse de Minuit pour Noël (Charpentier). In January 2019, Brian was an encouragement award winner at the Kansas City Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Brian currently sings in the chorus at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City.
